Wear Comfortable Shoes & Dress for Weather
You’ll be on your feet a lot, walking between attractions. The weather in the Netherlands can be variable — bring layers or a rain poncho.
Bring Snacks and Water or Know Where to Refill
Staying hydrated is important. You’re welcome to bring your own water bottle and snacks (where permitted) which can help save time and money.
Use Single Rider Lines
Some rides offer “single rider” or alternative queue lines which can reduce your wait. Plan your route so you hit the busiest rides early.
Don’t Miss the Fairytale Forest & Shows
It’s not just the rides — attractions like the Fairytale Forest (“Sprookjesbos”) and live shows add to the magic. Make time for them.
Consider Staying Two (or more) Days if Possible
If you stay overnight in one of the many onsite accommodation options, you’ll have more flexibility and you won’t feel rushed to experience everything in one day.
Plan for Families & Height Restrictions
If you’re visiting with children, check height requirements in advance so you know what rides your group can do together.

Avoid weekends, peak holiday periods, and school holidays in the Netherlands/Belgium if you can — less crowded means more rides and less waiting.

Head to Popular Rides First
Start your day by going straight to the most in-demand rides, such as Symbolica, Baron 1898, and Joris en de Draak, while queues are still low.
Catch Aquanura at the End of the Day
The Aquanura fountain show is a beautiful way to end your visit. Check the app for show times so you do not miss it.
Use the Train or Gondoletta to Rest Your Legs
The Efteling Steam Train and the Gondoletta boat ride are calm moments to relax while still enjoying the magic of the park.
Keep an Eye Out for Character Meet and Greets
Many characters appear around the Fairytale Forest and near show areas. These moments can make lovely family memories and photos.
